Android 4.4 support

Would it be possible to add support for older Android versions like 4.4?

With "implementation 'androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.6.1'" it does compile for minSdk 14, but it crashes on launch.

Unfortunately adding support for super old android versions would defeat the minimalism aspect of this launcher.
In-fact it would require adding an expensive set of shims that would tax also newer android version users.

Android 4.4 was released 14 years ago, for reference.
