Trail disappears after 2 mintues regardless of time setting

Struggling here, I want the trail to stick around. But after 2 minutes the drawing "undraws" itself.

I have gone to the marker's trail renderer setting and changed the time from 120 to Infinity, 1e+07, 86400 (1 day), 0 (then the marker does't work at all / only appears for a split second) but nothing works, it just insists on a maximum of 2 minutes.

Any idea what's going on?

I have at least found the cause after half a day of pulling my hair out

There is a time parameter of 120 in the IDLE animation

Would be useful to have this as an option or at least in the documentation maybe.
