Please tell us about yourself (include an email address):
Abu Ibrahim — independent Muslim app developer.
Email: abooibrahim.dev@gmail.com
Your purpose in using this API:
I'm building "Rawdah", a free, fully-offline, ad-free, non-commercial
iOS app (a sadaqah jariyah — no accounts, no ads, no tracking, no data
collection). It already offers an offline Qur'an reader, du'a & dhikr,
recitation, prayer times and qibla. I would like to add an authentic
hadith section. Authenticity is the whole point: every hadith would be
shown with its grading (sahih/hasan/da'if etc.), its collection and
number, and full attribution to sunnah.com as the source.
API rate limits:
Maximum requests per second: 1 (low — see below)
Maximum requests per day: <500 (low — see below)
Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data
or programmatic API access?
An OFFLINE DUMP, please. The app is 100% offline, so I would bundle the
data locally rather than call the API at runtime.
Could you also let me know the licensing / redistribution terms for
including the offline dump inside a distributed (free, non-commercial)
app with attribution? That's the main thing I want to get right.
What are the languages in which would you like hadith data?
Arabic, English, and Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) if available.
What programming language will your API client be in?
Swift (native iOS / SwiftUI).
