<p>A major contributory factor to the burgeoning success of GSM in Nigeria is our culture of greeting and expression of pleasantries which is lavish and extensive. Nigerians talk endlessly asking about anything and everything on phone. Also, the diversity and vastness of Nigeria territory has brought about migration and highly itinerant people moving from one part of the country to the other in search of greener pastures. There is always the need for constant communication with kits and kin back home.</p>
<p>The limitless and in-causative opportunities in the mobile phone sub-sector have arise out of its universal acceptance as a veritable tool for effective communication which is not constrained by the barriers of ethnicity, religion, age and status. It is a need, a companion and a must have tool for all and sundry. This explains why the major service providers in the GSM sub-sector have found it extremely difficult to cope with the increasing demand for services.</p>

The first strategy called Relationship Marketing, continually creates, maintains and enhances strong, value laden relationships with customers and other stakeholders in the GSM service providers market. It emphasizes the maintenance of profitable long term relationship with customers by creating value and satisfaction. This would be done by recruiting very good and highly competent sales people(DSAs) who will work with customers; who do more than calling when they think a customer might need their services; who study the customer and understand his/her needs and problems and provide solution promptly.</p>

segments since GSM products and services has specific products for every class of society. The segmentation is also based on the
need for GSM products and services by each segment disposable income and availability of loose funds to pay for service.
Evidently the purchasing power of the segments decreases from top to bottom while numerical strength of the segments increases
from the top to bottom as represented in the diagrams below. The implication in this is that every segment contributes
significantly to the demand for GSM products and services in the real monetary terms. The upper class is rich but few in
numbers but the lower class is more in number but with small disposable income.</p>
