Add "Ask for access" button

Feature Request

Problem: Users who encounter a private document or folder via a link but lack sufficient permissions are currently unable to request access directly from the interface. This forces them to manually contact the owner (e.g., via email, Tchap), creating unnecessary friction.

Solution:

1. Add a "Ask for access" button to the "Limited access" screen. This button should:

• Allow users to submit an access request directly from the interface.
• Trigger an automated email notification to the document/folder owner, similar to the functionality available on Docs.

2. Enhance the sharing window to clearly display and manage access requests (same as in Docs)

The functionality should mirror the behavior of access requests in Docs.

I replicated the behavior of Docs and applied it to the file previewer.

• Users can request access if they have no permissions.
• Admins/owners can approve or deny a request directly in the sharing modal.
• A user with viewer access can request the editor role from the sharing modal.
• An email notifies admins/owners of access requests (@lterm this is sensitive, as it could quickly spam users. I would hold off until we have a unified notification system in LaSuite).

Note: This mechanism will be especially important for restricted folders.

Removing email notifications would significantly reduce the visibility of access requests for admins and owners.
There is a risk that admins/owners may not develop the reflex to systematically check the sharing modal for pending requests, especially if they manage multiple documents or folders.
Requesters might resort to sending manual reminders (emails or messages), which could ironically generate more spam than a controlled notification system.
Would a toggle option (in the sharing modal/in the account settings) mitigate the risk of spam?
It would allow admins/owners to enable or disable email notifications for access requests. This way, users who prefer to check manually can opt out, while others can stay informed.
