We're a small team of engineers from Bern, Switzerland. By day we build and run infrastructure for our clients. In the evenings and let's be honest, on quite a few weekends we build [Fail2Ban UI (https://github.com/swissmakers/fail2ban-ui) and some other open source projects.

Fail2ban-UI started as a tool for ourselves, because clicking through log files on five servers to find one banned IP felt like a punishment we hadn't earned. Then other administrators found it, liked it, and started running it in production. That's roughly the nicest thing that can happen to a side project and also the moment it stops being a side project.

What Fail2Ban UI is

A management platform for Fail2Ban across one or many Linux hosts: review bans, search and unban IPs, manage jails and filters, debug filter patterns against real log data, and get alerts where you actually need them: Email, Webhook, or Elasticsearch. It connects to the Fail2Ban you already run, locally, over SSH, or through our lightweight agent.

It is, and will always be, free. AGPL-3.0, no paid edition, no licence keys, no telemetry, no "contact sales" button hiding half the features. We're a bit stubborn about this. It's a Bernese thing.

Why sponsor

The difference between a project that's maintained and a project that's loved is time. Time to answer issues properly. Time to test a release against MikroTik, pfSense and OPNsense before shipping it. Time to write documentation that doesn't assume you already know everything. Time to say yes to the feature that takes three evenings instead of one.

Right now, all of that time comes out of our own pockets along with the build infrastructure, the image hosting, the website, the GeoIP data, and the little firewall test lab humming away in a corner.

Sponsorship is what lets us treat Fail2Ban UI like it deserves to be treated: not as the thing we squeeze in after everything else, but as work worth doing properly. Every sponsor moves it a little further from "hobby we're fond of" toward "project that can sustain the people building it". That's the goal. We're patient also a Bernese thing but that's where we're heading.

Your name or logo in the README and on fail2ban-ui.com, a direct line to us, and a security tool that stays free, auditable and independent for you and everyone else who runs it.

One thing sponsorship is not: a support contract or an SLA. If you need guaranteed response times or custom integration work, talk to us at swissmakers.ch we do that too, just not through this button.

If sponsoring isn't in the cards

No hard feelings, truly. A well-written bug report, a documentation fix, a UI translation, or simply telling a fellow admin that this exists all of it keeps the project alive. And if you ever pass through Bern, the coffee's on us.
