Is the bug the lag? This could just be a situation where the game itself is horribly optimized and your machine is too slow to run the game here.

Dev pointed out that the game seems to make you fail when moving to the first spot.

the bug is moving to the first spot and failing. the lag's unintentional.

This behavior exists in the German versions as well, so it is unlikely to be due to a bad dump. No idea what the cause is for now.

This bug seems to be due to incomplete controller protocol emulation. The V.Smile controller has an additional mode with different behavior that is enabled by this game specifically for this particular minigame, this is not currently emulated. Investigating further.
