The Adventures of Little Red Riding Hood (USA) not working

This ROM behaves oddly. When starting without a system ROM it will freeze with an all-black picture immediately, when starting with a system ROM it will show the the all-black picture for a couple of seconds before finally starting the intro animation and then the game menu, but the controller input will not work. The German localization works without these problems. MAME has similar problem with the same ROM as well.

Could it be waiting for some interrupt that is improperly emulated? Or is it a bad dump?

I'm personally wanting to say its a bad dump, because i opened the rom in hex editor and right near the start there is a load of FF values that no other vsmile rom so far seems to have nor the German version either where it is meant to be 00s, i did try to 0 it and see if it would fix anything but sadly not so there are likely other issues down the line causing these other issues also.

It's worth noting that the ROM contents in addresses 0x0 - 0x3fff (0 - 0x7fff in a standard hex editor) are overridden by RAM and MMIO registers, so it will never really be visible to the console.

I throught i saw some strange issues later down also, but i guess im not experienced enough to see if they are actual issues or not

Either way even if that doesn't affect it, it certainly doesn't look normal and can be a easy sign of later stuff also being incorrect also possibly?

I just tested it on my own, and i can confirm that it's improper emulation.

How did you "confirm" this? Did you run the known dump on a flash cart, or did you a dump a cart of and confirmed the known dump was correct? Or did you find any specific system feature that was emulated wrongly?

..I simply ran the known dump in the emulator. And i'm not a scientist, so i don't know what is emulated wrongly.

But did you redump it yourself or of someone you know maybe since the dump that is online right now is suspected of possibly being bad and to me looking a bit odd compared to the normal game, so if you used that one there isnt much proof unless we can get another dump to prove its not that.

This is too complicated for my dumb lil' brain, so i'm gonna just leave this issue alone.

See if you have tried to download a good dump or legally rip your cartridge because the internet is full of bad dumps for this one
