Interfernce with Hotspot

A Samsung L720 running 4.2.2 rooted, but stock - would like to run CM 11, but no one can tell me what or where the last stable version is.
I digress, I use my hotspot and find that when the Firewall is active, NO MATTER WHAT, it closes after 60 minutes - even if a device is connected.
Turn off the Firewall and it will stay on as long as a device is connected.
I've looked at the reject logs and can find nothing.

The hotspot on my Blu Studio 6.0 v 4.4.2 kitkat was working perfectly until 1 week ago when it stopped working for no apparent reason. No traffic would go through my hotspot as long as Android_Firewall was enabled. I went through the list of every application and authorized every app to communicate (white list) but the hotspot still would not begin to function unless Android_Firewall completely disabled.. Each time when I Disable Android_Firewall, then the hotspot feature will begin working again.

I finally found a post online suggesting to go into network settings for the device attaching to the hotspot and enter the IP of public DNS servers. In this case, a Windows 7 laptop. This fixed the problem, which leads me to believe that Android_Firewall is blocking DNS traffic somehow, regardless of which application is enabled or not.

Note that in Android_Firewall settings, I do have the option selected for IPv6, Automatic Firewall Rules and Tethering Support. All 3 are checked.
