I've noticed that sometimes I can click on the update popup and it would install a newer version just to show up again that there's an even newer one. It would be nice if it checked for updates before applying the update.
Additionally, sometimes when the popup hasn't showed yet, but a new release email has already been sent, there's no way to force the update.
