Maybe he's dead. It's a shame that there won't be new improvements. It seems seems sucky to me to have a dot file in $HOME just so that it'll use xdg-open to open with my preferred program instead of the url_handler.sh script, which is terribly outdated (at least my distro patches it to use Firefox instead of Netscape; it should just be a symlink to xdg-open nowadays, though). I suppose it's because this all was before xdg-open.
