Icon ideas for Halley

Halley could use a recognizable project icon/logo.

Halley is a spatial Wayland compositor focused on movement, navigation,
clusters, and a desktop that feels more like a navigable space than a flat
stack of windows. The icon should ideally hint at that identity without
becoming too detailed or literal.

I have a few rough directions in mind, but I’d like to collect ideas before
settling on a visual direction.

Possible directions:

• comet / Halley's Comet inspired
• orbit, trail, navigation, or spatial movement inspired
• minimal app icon or abstract "H" mark
• subtle terminal / developer-tool influence
• something that works well at small sizes, like a favicon or GitHub avatar

Useful constraints:

• recognizable at small sizes
• works on light and dark backgrounds
• simple enough to adapt into SVG
• not too detailed or illustration-heavy
• usable as a GitHub avatar, website icon, package/project icon, etc.

Things to avoid:

• overly detailed comet illustrations
• generic planet/star imagery with no connection to Halley
• designs that only work on one background color
• text-heavy marks that do not scale down well

Rough sketches, references, mockups, SVG experiments, or concept descriptions

I let out my inner artist in GIMP. Reference material was a picture of Halley from 1910 from wikipedia. The picture is completely without any restrictions, as it's from 1910 :)

Should meet a lot of the criteria: works small, on a lot of backgrounds, quite simple, avatar-friendly( i set it as my profile picture for testing). Theme is a dark grey with a hint of purple, as a reference to these cool, low resolution images of asteroids and comets! Blue colors because comets are often ice in some form. Also i tried to make it look a bit like an "H", for Halley :)

Also one more thing: I am not a programmer, but I would like to contribute to this project.
I would describe myself as a "competent beginner" in terms of using Linux. First played around in VMs, then gradually moved onto real machines. I still break some stuff from time to time.
-> I think I'd represent a good junk of users who can use and tweak things but don't necessarily understand everything of it :D
Or if you can think of anything I could do that's not coding related...I'd be ready for it!

I started with a plain 16x16 and upscaled it in common sizes up to 512x512:

a rough idea for the icon, should have some craters in it and try to generally follow the colors from the site. thats what my idea for the icon is
