Pin reading error in Python (reading in a second time usually works)

When I connect to the board and read in a pin I know exists I get this error: "PinsError: Cannot check version, since pin does not exist."
If I run the exact same line of code a second time to read the pin it will. Right now in my workflow, I default to reading the same pin in twice to avoid this, but seems strange!

This makes me suspicious that this is something that is happening on the infrastructure you are using. Are these failing on Connect or in your IDE? And, if it is on your IDE, is it on Posit Workbench?

Pins currently has its own implementation of interacting with the Connect API, so if the failure is happening on Connect, I wonder if it is time to investigate using the pins SDK instead.

This is the same as my other issue too! I am using Posit Workbench and they are failing in the IDE and on Connect!
