Error while running this command python create_data_pickles.py

I was trying to run your program, after following all the instructions there was an error

This error happened after a long time say 20 minutes into running the first command.
Any idea on how to fix it? There seems to be a problem in h5py

By the way, really nice project! I wish I could run it somehow without encountering errors!

If the only thing you want to do is run the already trained model, then you can just run:

python live_predictor.py

This will not require any additional data or preprocessing, it should just work provided you have the library dependendencies.

The step you are following is to do all the data pre-processing on the raw data so you can train your own model. That data pre-processing step might indeed be the most problematic part of my code, it was very hacky. I am affraid i have no idea what that error means, or what is causing it. Did you download all the three datasets and extract them in a subdirectory? It appears it is looking for the "extra" subdirectory within the working directory, does this directory exist? and does it contain the digitStruct.mat file in there?

I realise now i have given incorrect instructions on the REAME file.

In the README i mentioned the data should be downloaded in a subdirectory called data, but the script is looking for the data in the current working directory, not the data subdirectory.

If you have your data within a subdirectory called data, then try running this:

python create_data_pickles.py -i data

You can close this issue, as by following your updated readme instructions, the program is now working.
