Create Showcase Demos for RTS Framework #41

@rluders

Description

@rluders

The RTS Framework is a powerful system built for creating 3D RTS-style games in Godot. While it already includes a basic demo, it's time to show what this framework is truly capable of by building polished, inspiring demos based on classic RTS gameplay styles.

These demos will help attract new users, inspire contributors, and act as reference implementations for common RTS mechanics.

🎯 Goal

Implement a series of small but well-made demos inspired by classic RTS games, each demonstrating different features and use cases of the framework.

🕹️ Demo Ideas (Open to Suggestions!)

Here are some initial demo concepts we can work towards:

  • Classic RTS (Warcraft / Age of Empires style)
    Base building, resource gathering, unit creation, and combat.

  • C&C Generals-style Combat
    Modern/military theme with fast unit deployment and explosive effects.

  • Commandos-style Tactical Gameplay
    Small squad control, stealth mechanics, and puzzle-style level design.

  • Tower Defense
    Pathfinding enemies, buildable towers, waves, and upgrade mechanics.

✅ Tasks

  • Define common structure and assets pipeline for all demos.
  • Create scene layout and UI base for demos.
  • Build Classic RTS demo (medieval/fantasy setting).
  • Build Modern RTS demo (C&C Generals style).
  • Build Commandos-style Tactical demo.
  • Build Tower Defense demo.
  • Polish visuals, controls, and UX in each demo.
  • Add clear README and how-to-play for each demo.
  • Record short GIFs/videos to showcase the demos.

🙌 Want to Contribute?

Feel free to comment below if you’d like to take on one of these demos or contribute ideas, assets, or code!

Let’s show what the RTS Framework can really do! 🚀
