Brainstoriming for roadmap

Hi Riley,

I would like to share some of my ideas for the future road map of syntaxsprint. I've not evaluated all aspects of these ideas, just sharing here to have your opinions to build a 2025 road map if you like to expand SyntaxSprint further.

==== Features ====

1. Leader Board to have top 10 score/time
2. Add multiple programming languages
3. Show preview of completed code blocks after timer expiry (assumption: new code blocks are proposed to the user till timer expiry)
4. User Registration Depended features:
   4.1) Make a profile for users with some statistics
   4.2) "Streak" concept to keep a record of daily activities
   4.3) "Challenge" concept: user can register for some kinds of competition in a week or a month

==== Maintenance ===

1. Refactor code to make it more scalable and granular with more components
2. Write tests on different levels

==== UI / UX ====

1. Make a guideline on how to make themes
2. Use a global template to make it easy to add different languages (Spanish, French, German, etc)
   I consider these two items in UI/UX as opportunities for less technical GitHub users to have a chance to contribute.

Hello Saeed, I agree that it is a great idea to come up with a 2025 roadmap for SyntaxSprint! Your feature ideas line up with mine with a few extras I haven't even thought of! If we can even get a few of these done, this would be an immense update to the app!

With that in mind, do you think it would be a better idea to work on the easier-to-accomplish features on this list first, or the bigger-scale plans?

Thanks for the encouraging comment! It's a difficult question to answer :) It depends on your strategy and available time to manage contributions. For example, two (or maximum three working items) from different categories and complexity levels can be in progress. Hopefully, other developers will contribute but it will take your time to manage them. And if there is not much contribution from others we can close a batch and proceed with the second batch.

Personally, I really like the Leader Board feature to upgrade the game plan as I said in another query. For example, adding another language like Java, Python can expand the app but leader leaderboard will introduce a new concept but it needs some ideas about calculating scores in a fair and yet competitive manner.

Please take your time and share your preferred strategy and approach to selecting a feature. We may change the plan in case of unexpected problems or implementation difficulties.

I think that the leaderboard feature is a must-have! It would be best to focus on that feature first in my opinion. Adding more languages can come after as I think having core gameplay functions like a leaderboard takes priority. It would even give the scores/wins/losses a reason to exist! Best to keep things simple at first to avoid over complicating development.

Great, I like the leaderboard feature. I'm happy that it's a high-priority feature from your perspective too. If you agree we can continue the discussion of the leaderboard feature separately and come back to this thread to choose the next features.
It would be great if you share your opinion on how to calculate the score and when to trigger the registration of the score in the leaderboard. I created another issue for it and shared my questions/views in detail.

I will start working on this feature in January.
