Currently the documentation is technically complete but could use a short cookbook of examples or a getting started guide. Maybe create a demonstration program?

Ooh, I can definitely add an examples dir to the root. That could help me learn the structure of this project a bit more before getting started on the other issue I requested for. Do you mind assigning this issue to me as I see you marked this as "good first issue" for new contributors?
