pip show should give the last installation date

What's the problem this feature will solve?

Hello,

I'm unable to know easily when I installed or updated a package which whould be helpful for some debug.

E.g. : my project works
Then I did some package update
Then my project didn't work.
Ooops, what packages did I update?

Describe the solution you'd like

I would like the initial install and last install in the pip show result

Alternative Solutions

Maybe having a look at files but it's cumbersome

Salut!

pip doesn't write any metadata for install operations beyond the standardized distribution installation metadata. In other words, pip doesn't track this information today, and neither do we have a mechanism to store any auxiliary installation metadata.

I guess we could use the last modified/creation timestamp of the installation metadata, but I'm not sure how reliable that would be in practice.

Hi @sambo22, the error in your screenshot doesn't seem to be related to this issue. It looks like it's caused by corrupted version metadata in one of your packages. Could you open a separate issue for that?

Done: #14196, though I realize I have since solved it. Posted in case the issue arises again.
