Update: Cookie AutoDelete is dead — suggest Cookie Guardian as replacement #33

Description

@ethancarlton-cyber

Hi PI team,

I noticed your privacy guide at privacyinternational.org/guide-step/4321 still recommends Cookie AutoDelete. Unfortunately, it stopped working after Chrome enforced Manifest V3 and the developer abandoned it in 2022.

Suggested replacement: Cookie Guardian

What it does

Same core functionality as Cookie AutoDelete — automatically deletes cookies when you close browser tabs. Plus whitelist/greylist for trusted sites.

Privacy credentials

  • Zero data collection (no tracking, no analytics, no external requests)
  • Fully open source and auditable
  • Manifest V3 compliant (won't break like CAD did)
  • Minimal permissions (only what's necessary)

Just flagging this so your guide stays accurate. Happy to provide any additional info.

— Ethan (developer of Cookie Guardian)
