P4 Plugin with Macbook M4 Pro chip?

Hi there! The plugin has been working great on my windows PC, but would it be possible to get it to work with a Mac OS that's using the M4 Pro chip? In the documentation it says that the plugin doesn't work with ARM libraries. I humbly ask if there's any way to get the plugin updated please so that it does work? :)

The plugin should work on ARM Macs thanks to the Rosetta translation layer. The binary is indeed built for x86-64, but it would still run fine on any Mac running a supported OS version.

Are you experiencing a specific issue running it or is this more of a documentation clarification request?

Thank you for the response! The documentation seems pretty clear and I followed the steps but still get the issue where it says "Version Control: UpdateSettings: Your client does not support Helix Core Cloud. Upgrade to version 2021.2/2201121 or later."

I am running Unity version 2022.3.50f1 on a Macbook M4 Pro. (I have Rosetta installed)

The steps I followed were:

1. Install the plugin named unity-p4-plugin.macosx1011x86_64.tgz
2. Extract the tgz file
3. This is where I get the error! (I think?) The tgz file extracts a TEXT document.

4. I tried replacing the plugin file at "/Applications/Unity/Hub/Editor/2022.3.34f1/Unity.app/Contents/Tools/VersionControl/PerforcePlugin"

Of course it didn't work because it's a text file. Thank you for the help!

I had the same issue. It seems that after downloading the Mac makes it lose its execution permissions and it becomes a text file.
The solution, for anyone with the same problem, is simple:

Open the terminal and type:

chmod +x /path/to/the/downloaded/file

then copy the downloaded file to overwrite the Unity one just like the documentation suggests.
It worked alright for me!
