TODO: get off my lazy bum and catch up to upstream.

• EAX COM api has been moved from dsoal, into softopenal itself.
• a number of improvements were done in dsoal.
• I think things have broken in the meanwhile with dsoal-XP, possibly after EAX transfer.

This would be much appreciated. I have some retro hardware which runs XP perfectly fine but lacks a creative sound card (e.g. Laptops or mainboards without pci slots). So using dsoal on real Windows XP is awesome :)

Same here, I have an Optiplex SSF based XP gaming machine, so no Creative card on that size, but DSOAL-XP is giving excelent results so far.

Alternatively, would be great having information about how to compile current DSOAL targeting XP, I could try to do that job.

@mgtroyas off the top of my head:

• use dsound instead of WASAPI for output.
  This requires avoiding loading yourself, and also a patch to softoal for that effect.

• enable explicit TLS in softoal. Or was it disable implicit TLS?

• some other thing I can't remember.

Also keep in mind, upstream DSOAL has been ported to C++.

Wouldn't you have better to rely on WDM-KS (as mentioned in kcat/openal-soft#999)?
