Well, considering the options here, I think I would add a command-line switch to turn the schema errors into mere warnings and proceed regardless.

For context: the SCS standard on image metadata (SCS-0102-v1) is quite strict, so strict that it practically forces people to use a tool such as the openstack-image-manager. However, people become frustrated with SCS when this tool now doesn't let them do what they could do without the tool. This is hurting SCS acceptance and adoption, and I am contemplating a fork.
