Recently we started to allow localization groups to merge their own PRs using an auto-merge automation. As many of them can operate on their own, that simplifies the workstreams and decouples them from SIG Comms.
I want to propose that we also look into making use of this automation for other SIGs, such that they can operate their documentation more easily.
Proposal:
- We test this out with some SIGs for which we have an overlap in maintainers (aka JS and Java, @jaydeluca , @maryliag). We run this for a few weeks and see how it goes.
- If we are happy with the outcome we put some guardrails in place (ie what prerequisites do we need for a SIG to be "allowed" to merge themselves)
- We roll this out across SIGs slowly.
@open-telemetry/docs-maintainers what do you think?
