I was trying to refresh my concepts around Gitlab CI and use a react app for deployment. Your blog was the best way to do it. Most other blog posts use solutions from different vendors which include AWS, netlify, etc for the different stages in the build process. While in your method we just used what is already readily available in Gitlab toolchain.
