I recently hopped from nix to guix due to some limitations of the nix language which have made my desired configuration not impossible but unnecessarily cumbersome and i never looked back. To do so i needed to provide some non-libre components. Fortunately there is a Channel ( https://gitlab.com/nonguix/nonguix ) that provides the Vanilla Kernel and Firmware and therefore enables the usage of guix on a non-libre system. Due to licensing reasons it is not possible to integrate this software into guix, therefore the Channel is not officially part of the guix project, but in practice this is the official unofficial supplier of the components the distribution lacks for the guix community.
