Failed to find format [mp3] or [wav] or [flac] or any format...

Hi,

I have Lame v3.99.5 installed. When I start rotter like so:
user@hostname:~$ rotter -a -f mp3 -b 128 -d 1000 -L combo -v /home/user/recordings

I get:

[DEBUG]  Thu Feb  8 15:30:42 2018  Root directory: /home/user/recordings
[INFO]   Thu Feb  8 15:30:42 2018  JACK client registered as 'rotter'.
[DEBUG]  Thu Feb  8 15:30:42 2018  Size of the ring buffers is 2.00 seconds (352800 bytes).
[FATAL]  Thu Feb  8 15:30:42 2018  Failed to find format [mp3], please check the supported format list.
[DEBUG]  Thu Feb  8 15:30:42 2018  Failed to initialise encoder.

Could you please help?

• How did you install LAME?
  • From source?
  • Using a package manager?
• How did you install rotter?
  • From source tar.gz?
  • From GitHub?

Nicholas, I am using elementary based on Ubuntu 16.04LTS. I installed LAME from a package manager. I installed rotter from source, because I want the extra settings you put there vs the stable version. Regards,

If you are compiling from source on Ubuntu, you need to make sure you have installed:

• libmp3lame-dev (for MP3)
• libtwolame-dev (for MP2)
• libsndfile1-dev (for WAV/AIFF/Vorbis etc)

After configuring the build, you should see a message like this, indicating the formats that have been enabled:

         TwoLAME codec (MP2): Yes 
            LAME codec (MP3): No 
                  libsndfile: Yes
