Flash memory on Xiao boards

Good morning,

First of all, many thanks to the creator of the Powerbread Board for its great functionalities. Its real-time measurement capabilities have been incredibly helpful in my projects.

I was wondering if it’s possible to store the measurement data directly to the Xiao board’s Flash memory, ideally in a .txt or .csv format. This feature would be extremely useful to avoid relying on an external PC to retrieve the results.

Hi! I really like your idea — it makes data logging much more convenient without needing a computer, especially for long-term projects that start up on a schedule.

But using the built-in memory directly has some limitations. At a logging rate of once per second in txt/csv format, 4 MB of flash can only store around 9 hours of data. Higher sampling frequencies will shorten this even further, and part of the flash is already used by the firmware.

Because of that, I think a dedicated external microSD card would be a more robust solution for storage (though this hardware version unfortunately doesn’t include a mSD slot....). Alternatively, maybe we could use an external serial data logger and send data through the board’s reserved serial port.
