Toggle for Automatic and Manual Git Folder Detection in File Explorer

Description:
Currently, File Explorer requires users to manually select folders to enable Git-related features. While this approach works well for developers working within a single repository, it becomes inefficient for those handling multiple repositories. Manually selecting each repository is time-consuming and disrupts workflow.

Feature Request:
Introduce a toggle option in File Explorer that allows users to choose between:

• Automatic Mode: File Explorer detects Git repositories and provides related features automatically. This may lead to redundant network requests to repositories, but some users may not mind.
• Manual Mode: Users manually select folders where Git features should be enabled. This prevents unwanted network requests for repositories that are not actively managed.

Benefits:

• User Control: Developers can decide whether to enable automatic detection or manually specify which repositories should have Git features.
• Performance Considerations: Manual mode ensures that only selected folders trigger Git-related features, helping avoid unintended performance impacts.

Seems like you may need to specify the directory where Git exists in order for it to work. The entire folder might not be effective unless it's specifically set up for Git repositories.

Could you clarify which option in the right-click context menu allows me to mark a folder as a Git directory? I haven't come across it myself.

Yeah at the moment you have to select every repo manually.
My and i think @RandomDSdevel suggestion was that you only select a folder where e.g. all your repos are stored and then it will automatically detect all repos in this folder.

I also think that it was a suggestion, because there is option in the context-menu for it.

     …Yes and no; that wasn't my full intent. My suggestion in my earlier comment above for an inclusion/exclusion override filter list was for one that's global (across the root directories of all mounted Windows volumes.) (Inclusions are to override 'no automatic detection, only manual/as directed' and exclusions are to override automatic detection by omitting directories from the search space for soeed.) That still lets one specify a single directory in which they've put all of their repositories to have the Windows File Explorer GitHub integration helper code search in for repositories to work with/in/be enabled in, but it's also more general than that. Again, though, the suggestion was for a potential future extension of what was suggested by the OP. If needed, it can be split out into its own issue.
