What is the goal of this project?

I'm asking because i'm pretty pissed of by the proprietary batteries on the modern e-bikes, which in case of one cell die, brick the whole battery and there is no way to unlock the BMS.

Since the shimano uses some kind of can/uart protocol to communicate with the battery maybe it would be possible to jailbreak the system and allow people to use a custom BMS with protocol adapters?
