Outputs from segmentation

Hello,

In the segmentation of a single object (e.g. membrane), what do the different labels mean in the output file?
For a single object, I assume the problem is a binary one, hence I would be expecting 0 for non-membranes and 1 for membranes. But I am getting every number in the int8 type, and they look like they should all be 1.

Am I missing something here?

Hi Neville, The output is originally a float between 0.0 and 1.0. We leave the binarisation / thresholding / isosurface level selection to the user, because in different use cases it can be useful to tweak this a bit. It’s like in Membrain-seg witj the ‘sabe probabilities’ flag. When saving with dtype int8 the value range is mapped from 0.0 - 1.0 to 0 - 127. It’s a bit ugly but int8 is a bit cheaper still than float16 for example. So to map back to original range, divide by 127. When using ‘easymode pick’ you can pretend the range is still 0.0 - 1.0 though, it is handled internally.
