Impossible to decline an invite to an empty room

• Create a private room
• invite someone
• make them admin too (not sure if this is necessary)
• leave the room before the other person can accept the invite

Result:

• The other user now has an invite in the room list, but it can't be accepted or declined and never goes away 403 FORBIDDEN

That's weird, according to the authorization rules, it shouldn't matter if the person that generated the invite left the room. Is that a bug from the server?

I think (correct me if I am wrong) that there are two possible solutions: a) The invite is discarded b) You can join the (empty) room. I am not sure about the second solution because I have not looked at how the server handles empty rooms. If either one of the solution could work or someone has another idea, I would be free to work on this issue.

@Paulprojects8711 Thank you for volunteering! I think you can start by adding an integration test in matrix-sdk-integration-testing and see what happens. You can start by opening a PR containing only the failing test, and iterate from that.

@Hywan According to my testing, declining works just fine while accepting does not. If you want me to figure something out for accepting or not showing the invite in the first place, just tell me!

I think having a test to ensure declining works would be great!
Then, as another PR, a different test for accepting an invite to an empty room, and then we can discuss about the fix there.
