What to Submit

1. QGIS Explorations

• Share screenshots, notes, or short descriptions of what you explored in QGIS.
• You may add multiple comments as your work progresses.
• Highlight any techniques, layers, or analysis steps you experimented with.

2. Final Poster (A3 Size)

Your poster must be designed in A3 format and include:

• Clear Title
  A concise, descriptive title summarizing your project or map’s purpose.
• Description
  A brief explanation of what the map shows, why it matters, and any important context.
• Data Sources
  List all datasets used, including links and required attribution.
• Legend / Key (if applicable)
  Include a legend explaining your symbology, color scales, or categories.

Description

This cartographic visualization isolates the 7.1km coastal artery of Gili Trawangan, Indonesia. It highlights a unique geographic anomaly: a high-traffic tourist ecosystem where motorized transit is legally prohibited. By stripping away secondary inland paths and focusing exclusively on the perimeter "loop," the poster illustrates a closed-system of movement powered entirely by human effort (cycling/walking) and traditional horse-drawn Cidomo. The narrative emphasizes the temporal shift in mapping—where distance is measured by the rhythm of footsteps rather than the speed of an engine.

Base Map Data: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).
Geographic Coordinates: Extracted via OpenStreetMap API and verified via WGS84 Satellite Imagery.
Spatial Constraints: Local Government Regulation (Peraturan Daerah) regarding the prohibition of motorized vehicles on the Gili Islands.
Scale Information: Measured path length (7.12km) via Overpass Turbo spatial query.

INDIA BY NIGHT

Description
This visualization utilizes data from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) to map the 'Economic Pulse' of the Indian subcontinent. By capturing nighttime light radiance, we gain a unique proxy for human activity, urban density, and infrastructure development. The intense clusters along the Indo-Gangetic plain and coastal corridors highlight the nation's primary hubs of GDP and electrification as seen from 824 kilometers above the Earth.

Data Sources:
EOG VIIRS Nighttime Lights (VCMCFG).
Timeframe: January 2026 Monthly Composite.
Radiance Units: $nW / cm^2 / sr$ (nanowatts per square centimeter per steradian).

QGIS Explorations

1. Zonal Statistics with Population Raster

Ran Zonal Statistics on a population raster (bangalore_population) against buffered stop zones. The graduated circles show population sum per buffer zone, revealing which stops serve the most people.

2. Count Points in Polygon
   Used Count Points in Polygon to count how many bus stops fall within each ward boundary. The choropleth map shows ward-level stop density.

3. Voronoi Polygons
   Generated Voronoi polygons from bus stop points in Bangalore. The Processing Toolbox shows "Voronoi polygons" under Vector Geometry. Each polygon represents the nearest-stop catchment area, a proximity/service area analysis technique.

4. Editing Routes Layer Fields
   Opened Layer Properties → Fields for routes.geojson to inspect its schema (name, trip_count, stop_list, origin, destination, etc.) and saved changes.

5. Routes Visualization
   Visualized the routes layer on the road network. The bold red lines highlight specific bus routes.

6. Sparse Route Inspection
   Identified a low-frequency route with only 1 trip and 2 stops. Likely exploring outlier or underserved routes.

7. Print Layout
   Opened the Print Layout to prepare a map for export, using B0 landscape size. The map shows the sparse routes. Techniques to move, edit and print a map were performed.
