Continuation of https://github.com/linuxmint/mint21.2-beta/issues/54 Here is an interesting finding from LM 19.1 Mate (live session VM)  Once upon a time, the original Mint-Y icon set was using a mid-tone grey. So there was no bug in Mint-Y-darker theme at the beginning.
