[Bug] ETC2 encoder not work on Mali-G76 (Don't compatible with bcn cpu decoding?)

Hi. I tested your wrapper with etc2 encoder, sadly don't notice changes in ram usage and texture quality. I think etc encoder don't work with USE_CPU_BCN=1 or bcn_layer.

yes,i tested it too with helio g99 mali g57 mc2on nfs mw2012 the same fps 10 fps
what i noticed in that the prototype version can word without use cpu bcn=1
you can install it directly with use image view =0
forget about use cpu bcn=1
but leegao used godot to test the prototype version,not a phone with mali gpu
so,ppl should test and provide logs

Okay. I remember what pipetto-crypto bcn_layer also have compute/GPU support and that work on my gpu, so possibly better to implement that version of decoder in wrapper

I'm actually going to see if PB could uptake the patch for this over in bcn_layer since I probably won't be doing a lot of dev work here and their wrapper seems to be able to superceded everything I have here

Could be possibly to first decode with cpu and then send decompressed image to gpu accelerated etc2 encoder. Since currently PB working on similar thing Pipetto-crypto/winlator#81

Yeah. Since bcn_layer is used for bcn decoding so settings for wrapper no matter. I think implementing etc2 encoder in bcn_layer is better since you can use that layer with any wrapper (pipetto-crypto or your wrapper)

Try to in wrapper settings set BCn Emulation to None

so in the newer winlator forks there are ui settings (bcn emulation:software/compute and bcn cache 0/1 ...etc) for the pipetto crypto's wrapper (like steven's fork) should i disable bcn emulation there
then copy the leegao wrapper .so file in the libs folder like before and add the env var: use_image_view=0 right?

Yes. You need find option "BCn Emulation" which set auto by default, and change to none

I finally got a dev environment of the fork set up to at least run locally on my laptop - https://github.com/leegao/bcn_layer/tree/etc2, I'll start integrating the actual transcoding soon.

One more thing that it looks like everyone needs to figure out (me, bcn_layer, exynostools, GH's libgamescope) is how to cleanup intermediate staging buffers. Transcoding cannot write directly to an imageview (since etc2 are not valid writable targets), so we'll need to use staging buffers and do a final CopyBufferToImage(2). The way everyone seems to track these now is to clean them up after the VkImage is freed / VkCommandBuffer, but dxvk pools these objects and don't release them for a long time, which could lead to a short-term blowup (or just a straight up memory leak if they're never cleaned up)

It's not working for me either, I haven't noticed any difference. My GPU is a Mali G720 MC7.
