Element: Use as virtual 5.1 soundcard

I'm just a simple audio consumer with no context in audio processing and maybe this software is not the right solution for me.

Waves had a "standalone" software NX which could be used as virtual 5.1 soundcard converting those to 2 channel headphone output using video or hardware supported headtracking (far before Apple comes with spatial sound stuff). Development has been stopped a long time ago and only the DAW Plugins are available. I don't want to setup a complete DAW and hope this may a solution.

So any music player needs to play 3D sound on a

• virtual 6 channel soundcard
• processed by Waves NX - Virtual Mix Room
• output to 2 channel physical soundcard

Is that possible? How to setup? Do I need blackhole or any other loop? Anyone has something similar running on MacOS (or Windows)?

Or is that the total wrong way?
