Hi all,

I'm brand new to using Element. I'm trying to bring in a signal from my mic preamp into an audient id14 interface to run some plug-ins in real-time and have that signal sent back to the hardware audio chain.

I'm noticing that if I create a simple graph where I pull in the mic signal through an Audio In node and I route that directly to the audio out node for my device (this is the most basic use case), the sound comes out with a chorus effect.

It routes to the device, I can hear the sound go through the rest of my audio chain... but there is this slight chorus effect happening that changes the sound. I can add plug-ins between the audio in and audio out and the signal will be processed but the most basic of the setups above with no plug-in will have the problem.

Any idea why?

Oh, last detail... In the ID Mixer app that comes with the audient, the mic input channel fader is at the lowest setting effectively muting that channel. The output channel is at 0 db. I had this setup working for a bit in Audio Hijack but it was not stable.

Is there another app running at the same time that is passing input -> output audio? If so, the chorus effect is probably coming from differences in latencies being summed together.

Not that I know of... and I changed to using my Mixpre3 audio interface and I get the same effect.

Do those have any kind of built-in input monitoring? That could cause this issue as well.

I tried directing the output to the external speakers of my mac instead of the audio interface and I hear the chorus effect on my computer speakers on the output. So I'm not sure that input monitoring on the audio interface is the issue.

I also tried closing Element, setting the main input on my Mac to be the audio interface and I recorded a short clip in QuickTime. The clip was fine when I played it back.

It applies VST effect to the channel if I add some but I still hear the chorus effect. Would it be useful if I shared the clean recording vs what I hear when I pass through Element?

Ok... This is a code 18 (i.e. user behind the keyboard). I recorded in multitrack mode in my interface and all channels are ok. So as you said @mfisher31 - This is definitely a monitoring thing and nothing to worry about. I'll figure it out separately. Thanks for trying to help! I'm new to this to sorry for this being my fault in the end.
