How to preserve image aspect ratio while performing beautification constraints?

Keeping the aspect ratio is not straight forward in this method. One way I came up with is to add another constraint that brings the aspect ratio closer to the target, like $c_\mathrm{ratio} = | \frac{w}{h} - r_\mathrm{target} |^2$.
