Invalid macaroon when validating account

I was wondering if the bot is still working with the latest version of matrix.

I cannot seem to make it work. I see the following error messages when trying to verify an account:
PHP message: Request has failed with error Invalid macaroon passed" while reading response header from upstream
Any clue on how to approach this problem?

I am sadly not using this bot in production anymore. It therefore might be possible that the API changed which makes this implementation incompatible.
I need to recheck the API to tell if that is the case (and probably fix it when I am on it)...

Thanks for the answer @krombel.
The bot was a good idea. Do you know if there is anything else that provides a similar functionality to this bot? I like the idea of allowing others to register to the server only after they have been approved. I guess another option would be to share with them a "secret" which then they could use for registration.
