Unable to view "Last Active" / presence information since v2.7.2 #3213

Description

Bug Description

Since updating to FluffyChat v2.7.2, I can no longer see users' "Last Active" / presence information (for example, when a user was last online).

I found an older changelog entry (v1.18.0) mentioning:

"feat: make showing user presence info optional"

I also found a commit that introduced a showPresences setting, suggesting that presence information could be enabled or disabled by the user. https://git.allpurposem.at/mat/fluffychat-linux/commit/ccfa3fa8f6305299b79af70c030ce70343fdd85d?files=lib

However, I cannot find this setting anywhere in the current Android app.

I'm unsure whether this is:

  • a bug,
  • an intentional removal,
  • or if the setting has simply moved.

If the feature still exists, I would appreciate clarification on how to enable it.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install or update FluffyChat to v2.7.2 or newer.
  2. Open a conversation with a user who publishes presence information.
  3. Look for the user's "Last Active" status.
  4. Search the app settings for a presence or "Last Active" option.

Expected Behavior

If presence information is supported, there should be a setting to enable or disable it (as described in earlier versions), or the user's "Last Active" information should be displayed when available.
