Support for templates for new notes

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Template based new notes would help in preconfigured notes (e.g. Daily notes, reflection notes, tasks etc)

Describe the solution you'd like
Simple templating with ability to put variables like date, day and time etc.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Foam, Obsidian etc. We could use foam-lite for I like vscode-markdown-notes better. There shouldnt be two swords in a single cage.

Big +1 for this idea, and some added suggestions...

As someone who already has some templates I use for notes, I'd love it if a feature like this would allow me to specify the directory where my templates are already stored. Other extensions force me to use the directory where they want me to store templates, which can clutter things up a bit for my directory structure.

Also it would be exciting if the templates could support the same syntax used for variables, as in VS Code Snippets, and the very similar syntax used for Copilot prompts. This way the templates would be very easy to reuse in other contexts.
