TR Manager does not start anymore

Hi Vassil,

since a few iterations, TypeRig Manager does not start anymore. Unfortunately, I cannot pinpoint the issue precisely, so let me just share a screenshot of the error message I get when trying to launch the tool. It seems to be basically the same error that occurs on Windows and is described here. I’m sorry I should have reviewed the open issues before posting. As always, thank you so much for your great work! :)

@alex-phil it is now fixed. Funny thing... it seems that after the latest Python changes i presume Yury changed the Qt version as well..?.. as all was working before... but it seems that now QWidget is having a slot .fontMetrics() and i seems that I have been using the very same name for my variable :) So it was an easy fix.

Just curious what are you using the Manager for? The code is rather dated.. i am not even sure that it works as expected. Please let me know if something is off. I presume (even know for sure) that Kerning related operations are not working or perhaps i am mistaken?

Thank you, Vassil. This is very appreciated. We have used TypeRig Manager for comparing kerning across masters and spot missing pairs and errors, in short, for diagnostics. It’s been a while since we last used it, but just last week we had the need to do some kerning comparisons, so I tried to revive it. I will let you know about issues with the tool.

(As a side note, I have been thinking for a while about a way to make kerning comparisons easier, and I wonder if it would be possible to develop a diff tool that would allow the user to apply fine-grained criteria for sorting, filtering, and highlighting issues. TypeRig Manager may be a bit dated, but I still believe it was a great start towards such a tool. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time at the moment to pursue these ideas any further, but I would surely like to discuss them with you in the future. I think I’ll add a note to the FontLab forum and see what other users would like to see in such a tool, or whether they would appreciate to have a tool like that.)
