Slow sync

In recent versions, syncing takes a long time. I only use a local account, if that matters.

I see the same issue with my FreshRSS server. In my case sync takes 23 seconds with a lot of POST /reader/api/greader.php/reader/api/0/stream/items/contents?output=json requests.

A moment ago I pressed "Settings -> General -> Clear all articles" button – and now it sync instantly. I'll try to select the smallest value in "Keep read articles" setting. At first glance it looks like this (almost useless?) cache of read articles significantly slows down the sync.
