given the size of the API (80+ files in R/), the test suite is lean. Adding regression tests that pin one or two known numerical outputs of fourSAIL() / fourSAIL2() against reference values from the Fortran/IDL PROSAIL could be helpful to maintain the package

dear @mmann1123 , apologies for the very late answer...
prosail v3.1.1 now includes a test comparing the outputs of the package with the output of the same configuration run with the fortran distribution, in test-prosail_fortran.R.
the fortran version was not directly integrated into the R package, as it seemed disproportionate for a unique test.
does this test match with your expectations?
