Problem statement
When editing screenshots, I frequently need to clean up images by removing things like unwanted ads, oversized empty spaces, or irrelevant lines of text from the middle of the image. Currently, doing this requires a tedious and time-consuming process: I have to manually crop, copy, paste, and realign different parts of the image to stitch them back together without ruining the layout.
Proposed change
I would love OddSnap to introduce a "Cut Out / Remove Segment" tool in its editor.
Please note that this is the opposite of a traditional crop tool:
- The user selects an entire horizontal or vertical slice/segment inside the screenshot.
- The tool deletes that selected area.
- It automatically collapses and stitches the remaining top/bottom or left/right parts together, seamlessly closing the gap.
This would make shrinking and cleaning up screenshot layouts incredibly fast and efficient.
Alternatives considered
I considered doing this manually in external image editors, but it completely breaks the quick, seamless workflow that a modern screenshot tool like OddSnap provides.
A similar highly-praised feature exists in ShareX (previously bound to the X key until v19, now from v20 on it's on letter U), where it is used heavily for productivity.
Having this native capability inside OddSnap would be an amazing addition to its modern toolkit.
