This meta-programming is very confusing, and scary, esp. to new haskell users.
I have no idea how one would approach this in a gradual, tutorial fashion, but it must be done - as it is the only "sane" option for persistence in Haskell. Going the SQL route feels completely bloated, especially for a web application.
