IR Learning

Is it possible to make app have IR learning feature (receiver) like old LG phones had back in days? It would be nice to have that back now on custom rom of that old LG device

I agree it's a great feature to add. The problem is that very few phones have an IR receiver for learning (and recent devices even less). Also I need to get a phone that actually supports this feature so I can develop and test it properly. Well I'm keeping it on my list and if one day I manage to get a compatible device I'll add it

My P30 Pro has learning functions.

I literally kept it around as a 2nd because the IR blaster function with it is so handy.
But after blowing up the screen, I I plan to ebay a scratch and dent used one.
I figured they would be $100 by now... They are not!

I picked this one up a bit ago that boasts learning, seemed to function using their provided app

For mine it was also provided app which has learning (this one) , but wish to use open-source solution

Yes, same, I picked mine up to specifically use with IR Blaster, I had assumed that IR Blaster would have some sort of learning (it looks so feature packed) but was disappointed to find it didn't have it. Not a huge deal, but would love to see it added if possible.

A few years ago I bought an USB Ir blaster and still could use it to learn a remote with in the zazaremote app. Think I got one which they recommend. Would love to see the feature

i believe i can make a simple circuit from scrap, for Audio IR Rx. since the hardware for the AUX mic is already there and it has the same bandwidth limitations as audio output, i don't see why it wouldn't work. perhaps it could even work with a voltage divider and direct acess to the led pins, to avoid the need of external power for a IR receiver component. another good idea would be automation done on the phone activated via IR input itself. not sure how hard it would be to implement or if it has enough userbase desire to be worth it. maybe it even atracts new users, who knows.

I've got an Ocrustar IR blaster and while its app does support IR learning, it requires continuous network access so that it can reach some endpoint hosted in China or else the IR learning feature is hidden from the app interface. Luckily the Ocrustar IR blasters are indeed compatible with this open source app, a receiver function is theoretically possible

It is indeed. There is no need to send network requests to China to learn anything. I'm planning to add this feature but since it's a big feature, I need to think through the best way to implement it in the app. I don't have much time these days but no worries I will implement it as soon as I can

I use IrScrutinizer on computer and it seem to work fine with GIRS compatible transceiver, hope this app could support it (the device is communicated over serial with a USB to UART chip so Android should support), although it indeed require a lot of work and I know nothing about Dart...

hi im using an Ocrustar Type-C IR blaster. It works fine with the app, but the stock software is pretty bad. Any chance you could add support for the 'learning' feature for external adapters? The hardware seems capable with ir blaster app. thx for your work!
