(Altercation Xmonad) What was the key thing you have changed to get it working?

It is pretty broken, no tiling whatsoever, some new windows opening with lower priority than current one, and basically what you described in short in the issue below and looking for the root cause too:

altercation/dotfiles-tilingwm#4

I thought it might be the XMonad.Hooks.DynamicProperty (0.12 broken; works with github version), but not quite sure.

I don't remember what was exactly chnaged by me, but I managed to fix it just by changig config in several places - you can compar emy config with orginal one.
