Clicking anywhere in the player time bar crashes the page

After installing the Safari 7.1 update on OS X 10.9.5, clicking anywhere in the time bar crashes the page forcing a reload. The reason given by Safari is that Safari Web Content crashed.

I'm afraid this is a bug in Safari; Javascript should never be able to make the browser crash. I may or may not be able to do anything about it.

A recent update probably this same one, has removed the ability to scrub through video. Clicking in the time bar sometimes requires several clicks and scrubbing does not work, the time indicator just returns its original position and the video is not affected.
