Integrations
In this world it's a "must" to offer integrations, because tools are very often part of a process implemented using several different components.
I suggest Kanboard (http://kanboard.net/) as an example of both a potential target for integrations, and a model of how integrations can be implemented.
- easy: hooks (with API+magic numbers) for relevant events like "task saved", "new estimate" etc, in a configuration file
- more: standard integrations for Slack, Kanboard, Trello
