Thanks for the suggestion! A couple of notes:

Ctrl+O is already bound in the TUI — single-tap toggles the most recent tool call/result, and double-tap (within 300ms) expands/collapses all of them. So it's not available for a new verbose toggle.

For controlling output detail today, the TUI already supports:

• Ctrl+O / Ctrl+E — expand/collapse tool call & result blocks
• Alt+T — toggle task-progress visibility

And if you want to inspect the full detail of a session (system prompt, raw tool I/O, complete transcript), try san inspector — it launches a local web UI for replaying and debugging sessions, which goes well beyond what an in-TUI verbose flag would show.

If there's still output you'd like surfaced that none of these cover, could you describe what specifically you'd want "verbose" to add? That'll help us decide whether a new shortcut (on a free key) is needed.

hmm. I did not think the san inspector did the same things.

what I want is:

• when I talking with san, I may only want to know the response it return to me, I may not care about the thinking process.
• and if I was running a tasks background, I can use Ctrl + o to see what the process currently and I can use Ctrl + 0 to back to frontend as well.
• this is the same behavior in claude code which I can do the verbose control from the chat mode, and it's better to shows in somewhere in the chat window so that I can know this tips.

Quick update on the expand/collapse side (ctrl+o / ctrl+e): it had real display bugs — it re-rendered the whole conversation, which duplicated history once it grew past one screen and wiped in-flight output if toggled mid-stream. #255 scopes the toggle to the live (most-recent) output so it no longer rewrites scrollback.

Trade-off: you can expand/collapse the still-streaming / most-recent tool output, but committed history stays frozen — the honest behavior for an inline TUI.

The broader "verbose toggle" you asked for (hide thinking / peek at a background run) is a separate enhancement from these fixes; happy to keep tracking it here.
